“The parade has always been about a joyous celebration of happiness,” Robertson said, “and David and I thought, ‘What better celebration of the joy of our wedding than to make it a part of Hot Springs’ most fun occasion.”
A Celebration of Love
Leysa Robertson, one of the founders of the world-renowned parade, and David Lowery will be married right in the middle of this year’s parade.
“The parade will pause for a minute so that Leysa and David can be married in the World’s Shortest Wedding,” said Stacey Ellis, one of the co-founders of the parade and director of sales for the Embassy Suites Hot Springs Hotel.

The happy couple will become a part of the event that also has attracted Dr. Albert Habeeb, age 95, who bills himself as the World’s Oldest leprechaun. Habeeb will be in Hot Springs visiting his daughter, Susie Harris, and will take part in the annual celebration of fun on Bridge Street, America’s Shortest Street in Everyday Use. Doctor Al will join a growing list of participants in what has become a world-renowned event.

The celebrity grand marshal will be “Cheers” star John Ratzenberger, plus there will be an appearance before, during and after the parade by The Famous San Diego Chicken. The Rock Solid Band will play for a street-dance after the parade.
The official theme song for this year’s parade is a new song honoring America’s new president, “There’s No One as Irish as Barack O’Bama.”
There will be the second annual Romancing the Stone Contest, with a $100 cash prize, for the most original and entertaining way of kissing the Arkansas Blarney Stone, which sits in front of the Hot Springs Convention Center a half block from the parade route.
In addition all the festivities there will be the crowning of King Shamrock and Queen Shamrock, and a free post-parade street dance featuring the live band, The Rock Solid Band.
